Experts: EU’s new sanctions against Russian IT have minor impact

MOSCOW, Oct 7 (PRIME) -- The E.U.’s eighth package of sanctions will have a small impact on the Russian IT industry, including on IT and engineering services and semiconductor supplies, experts told PRIME late on Thursday.

“There is nothing new absolutely in the new package of sanctions…There has been no services or supplies to our companies. This is why I don’t think that anything will change dramatically,” news and research agency TelecomDaily General Director Denis Kuskov said.

International projects with foreign unfriendly countries will hardly be possible. The companies that have not been blacklisted earlier will find it harder though, he added.

MForum Analytics analyst Alexei Boiko said that the restriction for supply of semiconductors from the E.U. “is certainly unpleasant but not critical in the wake of the adopted limitations and abandonment by some European firms of partnership with the Russians.”

He said the European companies are not the only suppliers of the products from the sanctions list.
